  • This was a test to see how this wine would age. It is 12 years.

The wine still looks deep garnet-coloured but there are hints of brown at the top edges. The legs are fast. In fact, I didn't notice any legs at all. There is no sediment in the bottle.
It smells slightly like blackberry with a bit of grapefruit some toastiness. It tastes like it was stored in stones. It still has a deep purple colour and alcohol, I say a bit "hot". The body is medium. It has a narrow texture i.e., it doesn't really coat the mouth but doesn't just slip away. It finishes medium. That might be the acidity that is still present as well as some lingering berry taste. It has acidity after 12 years.

This is a relatively inexpensive, not particularly notable wine that is still a very drinkable Malbec. (For me that means it didn't put me off.) But I wouldn't recommend storing this wine for more than 5 years. There are plenty of other wines that can use that space.

A good experiment, though. I learned something.

  • Opening notes and taste were welcome. Palatable but become heavy going after a couple of glasses
