60% Blickdichte rote Farbe. Minimaler Wasserrand. In der Nase Brombeeren, Johanisbeeren und Erdbeeren. Seidige Tanine. Fruchtig-würziger Abgang welcher langanhaltend ist. Trinken bis 2030
The cork was pretty cry and crumbly, luckily I had my ah-so opener with me. Lots of sediment, decanting recommended.
Opaque, slightly purple ruby red color. Sweet, rich and intense nose with aromas of ripe bilberries, brambly blackberries, plum preserves and peppery spice with an underlying hint of perfumed florals. Very rich, supple and mouth-fillingly full-bodied on the palate with brooding flavors of very ripe bilberries, almost jammy blackberries, prunes, some dried dates and hints of date jam. Very chewy and heavy texture with moderate tannins and somewhat noticeable alcohol warmth. Big, but quite round and mellow overall impression. The finish is long, juicy and rich but somewhat lighter than the midpalate. Flavors of blackberry and bilberry jam, sweet mocha spice and hints of pepper along with moderately noticeable alcohol warmth.
A bit more mellow and also somewhat more balanced effort than Malvedos 1999 that shows some more developed notes - most likely due to this vintage being from a half-sized bottle instead of a full-sized one. Still, the wine feels quite youthful despite its 10 years of age, so I can expect it to age nicely for another 10 or so. Most likely not meant for the really long haul. A good purchase at 20,69€ for a half bottle.
