a darker Burg than i was expecting. nice fruit on the nose and palate, dominated by dark cherries. nice and round on the palate with a firm backbone. should prob really enter it's drinking window in another yr
I never tried this wine before, but I've heard for some time now that this represents a great QPR for a burgundy. So curiosity got the better of me and I opened this up to go along with filet mignon tonight while my family was hunkered down during the early stages of a snow storm. While the wine provided a great pairing, it definitely needs a few more years at a minimum. It has a great core of fruit with mineral and earth undertones and with a trace of cinnamon and spice, but the tannins need time to smooth out and integrate (not that they are unpleasant now). I suspect that additional flavor complexity will be apparent with time as well. I really do think this has good potential, but additional patience is warranted. Live and learn.
