Pale red and murky. Exotic nose of strawberry jam, orange peel, burnt orange peel and cinnamon. Very richly textured and balanced with acid. No sensation of tannin, at all. Flavours of strawberry jam and orange peel continues. Unusual and beautiful.

Miles and miles better than the "Earth Smoke". None of the cloudy appearance of that wine- a nice clear ruby color.
Interesting, but rather vegetal nose. Green peppers and pine resin; very little fruit- not that that's a bad thing. I like my Pinot to throw a few curveballs at me when I'm sniffing it. Tastes rather spicy and peppery (though black pepper rather than green this time), with pleasant sweetness and balance.
Overall quite quaffable and definitely something different. Clearly Pinot, but clearly not Burgundy or USA, and in that sense it's great to taste a New Zealand wine which is doing its own thing. As such it's worth drinking in a way the "Earth Smoke" of the same year was not.
But at $50 it's a little dear.

Funky all the way; murky, muddy color wise, subdued nose; smokey a bit bitter on the palate.

Equally as undrinkable as the Earth Smoke 2009. 13 bottles poured away
