Green pepper nose, tart cherry taste, I will say this wine has been consistent over 3 bottles . Tannins were a little stronger in this bottle. A decent Zin.

Updating my previous review from late 2011 in which I said: "As of this writing (late 2011), the 2009 RandyZin would benefit from another year in the bottle, but if decanted for an hour or more, it shows its potential." Tasting in Aug 2012, it continues to improve. Flavors are becoming richer and more defined. Seems "hotter" than the 14% abv indicated, but after 15 minutes in the glass, the fruit reasserts with good structure beneath. I'm still feeling this will be better after another year, but if you cannot wait go ahead and decant for an hour or more and you'll be well rewarded. I'm increasing my rating by a point based on this experience.

In a difficult spot right now; tasting very olive/green pepper. Going to let it rest a while before opening another bottle.

Paired with pulled pork BBQ, wine balanced the sweetness of the sauce while providing just enough bite. Good wine
