Light in color, no brightness around the edges, but not yet brick. After reading the Spectator review of the 98, I was ready to throw this one out. So, I opened it. Wow! Not much fresh fruit, some dusky soil, dried candy evident, incredible balance and sweetness to the mid palate and a nice long finish. Fabulous black licorice on the finish. Very well balanced and beautifully aged with just a slight bit of acidity. I imagined a fall day on the Spanish plateau. Could even serve as an apertif.

Drank from magnum. Chocolate, earth, herbs and spices. Soft tannin and pleasant acidity. Fully mature and really nice to drink now.
