Tasted blind. It had a rather off putting cheesy smell. On the palate it’s concentrated and unyielding. Not sure whether it’s just too young or an off bottle.

Classic is how I would describe this. It’s completely what I expected. Notes of earth, cigar tobacco, cedar and mint. Lovely palate, fully resolved tannins, velvety texture and medium body. In its drinking window but still some years ahead.

The Last Dinner at Dinner (Dinner by Heston Blumenthal): By the glass ( Coravin Bottle) at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal as an apology for mixing our wine with another table. A poor apology as such. The wine felt burnt and soft porty almost like the ripeness was out of control , almost overdone in its youth. Poor wine and poorer than their apology.

Bought two cases en primeur and this was the first bottle from the 2nd case. Reading some notes I was slightly concerned that I might have left too long. Had at lunch and drank beautifully. You can see the age in the rim but there is still some fruit. Finished the bottle that evening and it was even better and the nose had come out. Very good.
