This is kick-ass carignan from Sardegna. Dark, roasted, plummy, earthy, a terroir wine. I've had some other producers (Sardus Pater and Argiolas) that come off as more polished, modernized, this is a wonderful, earthy, intense, full throttle bottle of Carignan and I will add more at the right price.
Lots of potential. Needs time. Rich, dark, brooding, but not yet integrated. Recently had a 1998 of this wine that was smooth and satisfying, with good structure, fruit and tannin, and without being over-balanced. This 2006 should get there- just needs some patience.
During a tasting. Discrete nose of flowers and red fruit, nice. Medium body with good freshness but slightly drying tannins preventing a higher score. From the isle Sardegna using the grapes Carignano (=Carrignan in southern France) and Bovaledo.
