Drank at Scala del Nonna. Very disappointed in this wine at this stage. Highly acidic and not nearly as delicious as the 2004 vintage right now. Hopefully it will evolve but I don't understand the hype at this point.
Tasted alongside the 2008. Paired with veal chop, rosemary, mushrooms. Decanted for about an hour.
This was just what I had hoped for; edges are starting to brown. Bouquet is immense, with strong notes of rose petal, fresh flowers. There is ample maraschino cherry and blackberry fruit, but the mid-palate is more notable for crushed rocks and layer upon layer of earthy undertones. A touch of Asian spice and oak. The structure is without fault in my opinion. Finish is dry but very long.
Very highly recommended. In comparison to the 08, this is simply a much more complex wine, and I don't think it's from two short years in the cellar...
