  • I think this is growing on me as I get down to last few bottles…Intense peach nectar over chalk (rather than slate) on the palate here, standing out more as the wine gets air. Tasting now on the second night, both times with/after homemade mild chicken curry; it could stand up to more heat if I’d had it. Would score it higher were it not for an impression of less precision than with my favorites from Germany.

  • Five years since my last note, but this was consistent with those earlier bottles. Other than a deeper hue, more yellow than straw, I didn’t find much different. Possibly more harmonious, but not more complex with age. Paired with lamb Goan curry and checken biryani from Tandoori Mela.
Perhaps I will take Riesling-fan’s advice and pair with foie gras...

  • Another 18 months in bottle, and this is still a monster. It has the richness and sweetness of Beerenauslese, but without botrytis, so that explains the Spatlese labeling. But don't be fooled, this is not a dinner wine. Have it after a meal, maybe with cheese. Or have it with the foie gras course. This is a beast with decades of life ahead of it.

  • I drank a bottle of this a year ago, and thought “that’s a big Auslese labeled as Spätlese.” I was wrong. That’s a Beerenauslese labeled as Spätlese. Holy cow it’s a big wine. It’s dessert rich, and has more power than three bottles of Spätlese in one. Pretty much the poster child, not for pradikat creep, but pradikat launch!

  • Want a rich spatlese that does not apologize for slapping you upside the head and shouting "wake up!!!" when you drink it? Well here it is. This is a rush of ripe tropical fruit with tons of body and extract to burn. It's really more of a big auslese, but so what. Wham! Drink it now for total fun factor, or let it age, as it's got tons of time to go.
