  • Oxidised and frankly very painful. We have 2 more from the same batch so hopefully those will better

  • An evening of Rhone (Ponte Vedre Club): LaLa's need a lot of time and this was maybe just on the edge of starting to be ok to drink and really probably would have liked a few more years in the bottle. The fruit comes across as more red than dark here and it's younger in style and maybe even a bit fruitier and some of the feral secondary notes haven't quite picked up yet. Still an enjoyable wine and has that structure and power that you might expect from it (a bit less of the delicacy which to me comes from the floral side which this didn't have as much).

  • Graceful, complex, and delicious. The kind of wine you reflect upon for days, this is as good as it gets to my taste. Magnificent!

  • From a nice looking bottle with a 2.5 cm fill, this wine had a deep red center and pale red rims. This wine was tight at first. After a couple hours the medium intensity nose put forth violets, raspberries, minerals, and some spice.

In the mouth, this wine was pretty reserved for quite some time when first opened. It had an edge but not much richness. The fruit and weight slowly grew to balance out the nicely crisp acidity and light tannin. However, it remained streamlined and lacked the complexity one expects from La Monline.

While one might guess this wine was showing at its best given its light body, I would bet it really hasn't hit its peak yet. While do not believe this wine will perform anywhere near the great Moulines, the color, and the fact that it gets better and better with air, suggests to me that this wine will pick up a point, or so, in 5-10 years. However, if you decide to pop one, give it at least 5 hours in a decanter.

  • Pnp, enjoyed over 1h, benefits from some air, despite the vintage not being great this was a very pretty wine, a lot of spices on the nose, soft palate, perfectly balanced, with time gains a degree of sweetness that is very plesant, mature notes, at plateau, ready to be drunk
