14.5% alcohol. Bright cherry color. Pretty, classic Rochioli nose of black cherry, baking spice, and a touch of minerality. In the mouth, this is rich with cherry fruit, with a nice spike of acidity, and there is a touch of heat lingering on the finish. May be coming around more quickly than other vintages. A-
Wine presented in a weird stage that night. Remembered my first bottle was way more in place. Every component are there but look to me less cohesive then 1-2 years ago. Classic RRV fruit, alcohol spiking ++, interesting minerals/saline notes, a lot of spices (cinnamon, clove, star anis). Good but not great.
Tight out of the bottle but opened beautiful with the assistance of the Venturi. Fruit forward subtle to no tannins and a great finish. Purchased from the winery in Russian River. Got one of last few bottles in 2010. Glad we waited.
Popped and poured at a new-to-us restaurant with some pretty sophisticated cuisine. This was outstanding. Dark red/purple color, no real signs of age in the glass. Just a bit disjointed out of the bottle, but smoothed out wonderfully as it took on air. Some smoke and spice on the nose, along with dark cherries. Pleasant mouthfeel, lots of structure in the mouth, with a blending of red and dark fruit, good tannic structure, and a hint of smoke. Long, pleasant finish. I think this could age some more, but is drinking quite well now.
