Beautiful strawberry and cherry aromatic profile. Elegant and silky. Not rustic like NSG can be. Tannins integrated and nicely balanced on the flavor. Only an hour of air needed to shake off and improved further over the next two. Very good. At half the price of cathiard, it’s still a relative bargain.

NSG North Virtual Tasing (Zoom / Chicago): Initially the most backward of the three 2009s but it opened and offered more and more charm with time in the glass. Macerated black cherries that add spice intensity as it gets air. Richly fruited with lots of fleshy black cherry that builds momentum and depth as it opens up. Better with 5-10+ years.

Nuits St. Georges 1er "Northside" Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Started off closed and inaccessible, not giving much of that 2009 fleshy charm despite being open several hours. Begrudgingly, flavors and aroma emerged - red cherry, savory spice, meaty character, et al - that made this go from seeming dull to me (flawed to others) to an interesting wine with upside. An odd bottle, but certainly not as odd as the 2010.

Opened 30min before serving. Extremely elegant with herbs, red and black cherry. No hint of heat from this hot vintage. After 1h in the glass, the earth and spice that typically associate with NSG starts to show. Beautifully expressed with backbone and depth. Highly recommended!

Dark ruby red clear along the side with dead slow legs. Nose was still subdued and restrained even after 3 hour slow ox decant. The plate had a ri0e lively style lots of briar, strawberry and barberry styles fruits. Finish was fairly clean and decent with some cola nut and sandalwood in the back side. Still pretty young not sure which way this will develop.
