Opened and straight away a great nose, but this was quite unbalanced on the palate and never really improved. Even on the next day in fact the nose remained but the palate got a little bitter. Overall disappointing and not sure if this is travel shocked.

On the nose full throttle dark cherry and black chocolate. On the palate very lush, round, dark cherry, poised and mineral. To me on a par with the 08 side by side and notch below the 12 (for its potential).

Tasted blind - Rich and opulent with a dense bouquet of juicy dark cherry, crunchy berries, ample sweet vanilla new oak spices and burnt wood tone. Fresh and tight with a charming bouquet that took some time to open up, a big-boned wine. Ultra-ripe grapes, is it a terroir characteristic (Aux Brûlées) or vintage characteristics or both? 2009? Aux Brûlées? (91-92/100)

Good nose, floral but mild. Mints and spices with whiff of cognac (alcohol?). Ripe and rich on the palate, dense with good concentration but not over-extracted. Sweet and creamy tannins, more black fruits. Fresh acidity, lively. 13.5% alcohol with slight heat at finish. Hint of oak at finish, typical of Cathiard wines at young age, will need time to integrate. Bigger wine than anticipated for a VR 1er Cru. Good balance overall. Obviously too early to open this, purely for science of course. At least 5 years away from being ready, maybe even 10 years. May deserve a higher score when mature. Delicious wine but prices are going nuts these days for Cathiard wines. Keep some for 2nd day, open up nicely, great nose and maintains good balance. Excellent wine. I really dig Cathiard's wines, shame about the secondary market prices. 93-95 pts (A-)

A richer style of Burgundy. Ripe notes of dark cherries, strawberry and spice. Long finish with a lot of potential.
