Nose: tea, red fruits, game, smoke, meat Notes: Drank from a magnum and it still has some greenness to the nose. Unfortunately I have not been a great fan of Malconsorts in general and its considered a little too rustic for me. This is unable to open up today and I suspect will take quite a few more years. Right now the nose is quite unbalanced for me and certainly smells more like a Cote Rotie or even Barolo at this moment. Drink: 2030+ Rating: 87

Medium ruby, rich nose. Initially the wine seemed not very complex. I set it aside and it grew in the decanter and was especially fine after two hours.

de Montille's 2009 Malconsorts is quite voluptuous with ripe cherry and sandalwood. Fairly balanced though, not flabby, plenty of upside with further complexity ahead.

Had this 2 years ago and gave it a 94. I was lucky to have tried a few nice burgundies this year and this one is in my top 5 for sure. Maybe it was the occasion as well but the bottle was a great rendition of what burgundy fans look for. A wine for contemplation. Pure, silky, airy and very long aftertaste. Hard to describe in words so I will leave the score to tell the story.
