First time with this wine and variety, but we were pleasantly surprised. Old world food wine for sure. Deep crimson color. Aromas of earth, funk, dry leaves, eucalyptus, dried flowers, and macerated cherries, in descending order. Pretty full body, with good acidity, length, power, and presence, and flavors of black cherry, plum, cassis, and mineral. I can't speak to the evolution, but the tannins are pretty grippy after dinner; however, this was great with red sauce, meatballs, and pizza tonight. My kinda wine. Silly QPR at $11 too. 90+

At or more likely just past its peak, drink up now. Tea, dried leaves and a bit of cherry on the nose. The palate shows red cherry/red raspberry up front then some herbal/tea/earthy notes. Integrated medium tannins/acidity. I tried this side by side with the 07 vintage of this wine which tasted similar to where this is a year ago and now is over the hill; I have one bottle of this left and will be opening it later this winter.

My last bottle, it's been a good run. Definitely time to drink up. Notes overall match those previous, this bottle just tastes more tired.

Very nice bottle, albeit a bit subdued. Earth notes with some sour cherry. Well balanced.
