14.1% alcohol; 'French Soul, Oregon Soil', Dundee Hills; medium to heavy-weight foil; real cork, extra long at 48 mm, wine seepage into the cork 18 mm, cork aroma is subdued, like a wine cellar left alone for a long time; medium to long legs, brownish-pinkish-red; opened, vinturied, and tasted after about 4 hours at 24 degrees C in stemless wine glasses; nose of cassis, raisins, stone fruit, hint of cardamom, wood, honey; full bodied, starting to decline but on a richly varied base; like old jewelry buried in soil showing what it really is at the first swipe of the polishing cloth; if you have this in your cellar, enjoy it now; complex components, raisins, stone fruit, spices, wood, with a metallic sweetness rearing its head in the background, the first signs of decline; we had it with Thanksgiving dinner -- turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mince meat pie; you you might want to drink it solo; no use rating an old man of many talents expressed in bygone years; ADDENDUM, the wine in the bottom of the bottle stayed at room temperature for maybe 3 or 4 hours, and improved markedly in taste at the end of this time; the signs of 'over the hill' that I described earlier were gone and the wine's former character showed itself again; I've altered yesterday's 'neutral' and 'no rating' to an 88

Slight rust tint to the wine as expected with 9 years of aging. Lots of Dark fruit aroma with some oak. Dark fruit flavors up front with a light finish. Went well with Jambalaya or any other heavily spiced meal.

Day 2: falling flat a bit. Still good, but the complexity is gone.

Dried figs and cherries . Sherry flavor coming through with oxidization. Really lovely.
