A slightly underwhelming bottle of this wine. The wine is well made and technically flawless. However, i do not find the very rusticity, angular character that draws me to Fixin in the first place. Much like certain 2005s, the balance is no longer that of a traditional Burgundy wine. In a blind tasting, this could have passed for a West Coast wine...Is this a sign of things to come? Unlikely to improve but I will hold back some bottles to see.

First bottle out of a nearly full case. Excellent showing both for drinking now and further aging. Not decanted but served slightly chilled. It would benefit from decanting. Excellent ripeness, good tannins present but not agressive, excellent underlying acidity and impeccable balance. I was relieved to see that this was still an old style Burgundy. As usual in Fixin, great iron/blood notes and quite a bit of complexity from this under appreciated appellation. This will surely get better over the next 5-10 years

Light body. Floral nose. Soft tannins with a bright acidity that is not at all astringent. Softens and opens up beautifully after and hour. Flavors of strawberry, cranberry, and a bit of cinnamon emerge. Very nice compliment with food. Ready to drink now, but has enough fruit and acidity for a few more years of aging.

Sweet spice, fruit and a hint of a floral note. Nip of bitterness takes over. Sous bois. Flattens out a bit on the palate. Perfectly fine but nothing more.

No formal notes, but in a really good spot now. The bottle quickly disappeared.
