Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 95 points

  • During a tasting dinner. Initially discrete then more open nose of red fruit, lots of spices, some earth. Ripe, but not as much heat as some other Ponsot I have tasted. Really good structure, freshness is there as well. This is very young still. While we all liked to taste it, we also concluded that waiting another 5 years before opening this is clearly indicated.

  • I feel very privileged to taste this...
Still very closed, we double-decanted to open it up a little. Aromatics of dark cherries, plums, blackberries, prune, sweet spices, flowers, cedar wood and dark minerality like graphite. It's full-bodied, ripe and dense, with medium+ acidity and medium-high but super polished tannin. Excellent length. A fascinating wine and again totally different from everything else (as it always is with Ponsot). Somehow we all felt that this was still very young and will have it's best time in quite a few years. (94+)
