Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 89.5 points

  • Dark but with orange-ish tinges. Smell has dried wild berries, incense, candle wax. Taste adds some fresher fruit notes, with a Granny Smith apple finish and aftertaste. Medium body, but on the lighter side, especially for an Amarone. Not a thick, raisiny example.

  • Very nice clean date cherry, fig, and burnished mahogany; fades on day two with more stewed fruit, prune, and some heat

  • Bevuto al momento giusto, ma è un Amarone un pochino povero.
Profumi interessanti, inizialmente chiuso ma poi con un leggerissimo spunto di acetica.
Da bere ora, inutile a mio parere aspettare ancora.

  • A lighter, more traditional style Amarone from outside the Classico area. Clear, ruby, medium plus intensity, garnet on the rim, with good consistency. The nose is clean, intense and moderately complex, with aroms of black cherries, prunes, sweet spice (clove, nutmeg, red liquorice) and tobacco. The nose is developing and of fine quality. The palate is dry, with crisp acidity, medium (-) tannins and medium (+) alcohol at 15%. The mouthfeel is smooth (+). Minerality is moderate. This is a full-bodied but not as extracted Amarone. It is moderately balanced towards softness. The flavor intensity and length are medium minus. This wine is ready to drink and is not likely to improve significantly with further ageing due to its limited structure and intensity. It is pleasant and well made but comes up short by Bertani Classico standards. A decent value at $49.00 but a poor value at $79.00.

  • Maybe it was the lingering memories of the '04 Tedeschi I had last week, but this left much to be desired. It was indeed a great wine to be shared but not an example of what potential a serious Amarone has. Enjoyed with a rack of lamb and truffle pasta, and it certainly delighted the senses....brought home the remaining half bottle and still enjoying with some toasted coconut as a late night desert. Worth trying but not for those who expect more from an Amarone label.
