Taught and reduced upon opening but within an hour it began to show some nice syrah traits. Earthy and austere with graphite minerality and spiciness in the finish. The fruit is either tightly locked up or has faded a bit which is hard to believe for a 2008. Very Rhone like in its current form.

(Januik Syrah Lewis Vineyard Columbia Valley) Dark in color with purple at the rim. Richly aromatic with char, bacon fat, orange peel, mineral, and toast. A big, opulent, intensely flavorful wine with a persistent finish. Beyond hedonistic. 100% Syrah. Aged 18 months in French oak (50% new). 14.2% alcohol. 15 cases produced.

Solid. I'd prefer this to the 2008 Dunham Syrah, as there is less new oak influence here, and what exists is better integrated.

Earthy/savory nose with dark fruit. Smooth mouthfeel, gentle but sturdy tannins, and a lasting finish. Rich.

Deep garnet color, lovely big nose. Taste is more restrained with dark fruit, a little green pepper, a little earth. Sings with food.
