Another chance to drink. An etheral bottle, old and showing it but still alive and something very special. With food head for the truffle / tobacco / aged out character. Have to think about what...

Per Emanuela Stucchi, bottled in the early 80's. Not destemmed. red and white grapes (sharecroppers, hence the white grapes would make it in to bulk up the tonnage) wooden boti and cement ferment. aged in chestnut for almost 20 years before it was bottled. so the cork is really only 25ish years in bottle. on the nose a soft evergreen. color today is rather youthful. a little brown at the rim. fading color, but it looks half as old. truffle, soft earth and fun leather. still light lingering tannin. Medium tannin that pronounces itself louder now that it's flesh has fallen off. paired wonderfully with simple aglio e olio. the subtle nature of the wine spoke more confidently. thanks anne.

Fig, walnut, forest floor nose of older wine. It was still very much alive though, with just a kiss of primary sweet strawberry fruit at the end. I would buy it again.

Chianti (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee): Directly imported from the estate. Retail @ $149. Freshly applied new label. Blank back label, but don't be fooled. That is NOT a brand new cork. Must have been ullaged at the estate. Soft cork. Quite the wide amber rim. Deep corn sweet and secondary fruit of prune and fig. Big dash of forest flooor. Hazelnut presence on the finish leather in the nose. Port. Lively acid. More than a hint of tannin hanging around. Ghost of primary fruit on the finish. Fun.
