I had a great-uncle who was a motorcycle rider and a pipe smoker. This wine’s aromatics remind me of his leather jacket. Dark fruit (black cherry, dried brown fig, Medjool dates that are just a smidge too dry), big spice (mace, allspice, smoke-tinged well-worn leather, cigar humidor. There’s still a big burst of intense fruit on the palate, reminiscent of liqueur-soaked cherries encased in dark chocolate from a box of truffles. This was a gnarly, insanely grippy tannic bastard when young, but now everything is mellowed out into silky smoothness. There is a little hint of stewed fruit forming around the edges, which could be due to age or a temperature blip in the dozen or so years I’ve been hanging onto this, but that’s of hardly any consequence, other than indicating this could be about to crest the hill. But right now, it’s singing. Just delightful.

CA pinot night - had this vs a 14 Lato Pisoni and a 14 Dumol Ryan. Unfort while I usually love Littorai, this was just not a great bottle; almost wonder if it was corked; thin, quite acidic; not much fruit; we found it flat and one dimensional

Still great !! I agree with my tasting note of almost one ago. A perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle. Consumed over two days, this balanced wine showed more fruit on the first day. On day two this mature wine really showed. Medium ruby color with no oxidation and excellent clarity. Aromas of red cherry, pomegranate, and raspberry. Flavors of bing cherry, cranberry, rose hips, and forest floor with a slight floral component. This Pinot Noir has a medium finish. A balanced and flavorful Pinot Noir. This wine is on the Burgundian side and is the perfect example of what make a wine age worthy. This wine may have more years of life remaining, unfortunately this was my last bottle of this vintage remaining in the cellar. A great fruit sources from from the Cerise Vineyard in the Anderson Valley appellation of Mendocino County. All of these elements and great winemaking from Ted Lemmon combine to consistently produce a fine Pinot Noir.

Consistent with my previous note: Previous notes are pretty spot on. At 12 years this has quite a few years left to go. I still get some of the red fruits with just a touch of cola but it's more in the background now with secondary notes coming to the forefront. I suggest a short decant before drinking.
