Opened and aerated for 1 hour. Eye: bright ruby, translucent, clear, 2mm fading. Nose: crushed red currant and cranberries, sous bois, ground flintstone. Palate: medium body, good structure and weight, fresh acid profile. 14 Caudalie. approachable now (with decanting), expected peak 2015-8. Pleasant but not above its appelation. Good companion for a saddle of deer and gratin dauphinoise.

2009 Red Burgundy, a first look: Aromas of cedar and earth with a bit of menthol, well balanced, integrated tannins. Overall a very nice wine.
