If this is past its prime wish I'd have tasted it earlie. Very nice red color, good raspberry fruit and nice lush mouthfeel. Really enjoy most all aged zins I've tried from Ridge even if this was considered a bad year it shows what this quality Zin producer can do.
Medium red. Nose of American oak, cherry, alcohol, cocoa powder, rosemary. Rich texture in the mouth, envelops the palate. Good, not great flavors of Choo-Choo Cherry and Goofy Grape, cocoa; it's a bit simple but it's sound. Finish is decently long. The '95 was never a favorite around here. Bottle #2 of two.
Clearly getting on in years. Drink them soon. But is in a good place now if you like secondary flavors in your zin. This has some good fruit to it, and a solid acid balance sadly lacking in most zin these days. And developing a nice leather and mushroom nuance.
