Initial sip worried me as I found it tight despite airing it for two hours. As we decantered for another hour it really softened and opened up. Some mild acid and not overly fruit forward. Structured and not as bold as some say. Consumed over pasta dishes and very much enjoyed with the meat free dishes.

Fairly light red in color, the nose is bright, but almost rubbery in character. There is fruit behind the rubber, but the nose is a little off-putting. On the palate, this is New World in character. It’s pretty darn hot, but with bright citrus and blackberry fruit. The rubberiness still shows through, however. Better with time in the glass, but never really loses the excess heat. Still, I do like this. Is it worth the price? I’m not quite sure. This is very good, no doubt, but it doesn't quite reach expectations for me.

Full body, surprisingly lively acidity and tannis for a 12 year old wine, very dry. Some coffee, wood and anise. Great Brunello.

Dried flowers, dark fruits, nuts, raisins, black tea - great wine - powerful Gaja style
