Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • This wine was generously provided by the proprietor of Vintage Wines, Ltd. and was presented in double-blind fashion. It is deep amber at this point, with an intense bouquet of pipe tobacco, saddle leather, cocoa, plum, mint and earth. It is light-to-medium-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, melted tannins and nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 13%). The flavors are complex and mirror the nose. Solid in the middle, it ends with a lengthy, albeit tart finish. While somewhat "tired" at this point, this wine still has modest residual fruit and is very enjoyable...an impressive showing, especially for the vintage. Drink up!
