Surprisingly dark. A very opulent wine. Sweet dark fruit and smooth tannins. Very round and pleasant. Good to drink now with some years left. I very much enjoyed the wine but I was missing some character.
Beautiful dark cherries and dark chocolate, in the background creamy vanilla from the oak, nothing disturbing though. Develops constantly during the evening, becomes less sweet and more powerful, and much better. Some early maturity on the nose with coffee beans, soggy leather and damp undergrowth. On the palate the dark cherries run the show together with great acidity and fine silky tannins. The last glass, on day 2, is clearly the best which hints of a long life ahead. Not sure I'll wait that long though, really like it as it is right now.
The very richest and darkest cherries you can think of, crushed. Plums, chocolate and some vanilla. Also an earthy feeling together with a subtle note of oak. Really good. The tannins are soft and very well integrated, makes me wonder if this really needs more time in the cellar? Perfect balance and pretty much reached it´s potential imo. As been said the complexity is not that high, straight forward Sangiovese-cherries. 90-91.
Nose: Tobacco, gunpowder, depth, dark berries, a touch of sweetness, Taste: Very good balance with acidity and tannins. Good structure. Again dark berries and deapth. A touch of oak. Finish: Quite long and fruity finish. Summary: A nice brunello, nothing wrong but nothing really special. The terroir does not come through.
Part of a mini Brunello tasting. Scored. Came out as the winner in my view. Very enticing nose of early maturing Sangiovese. Classic Brunello nose. On the palate an absolutely beautiful balance between ripe fruit, tannins and acidity. Drinkability score is through the roof! Delicate and a pleasure. The complexity is not high though, which is the only drawback in my book. Does not need much longer in the cellar. Accompanied a Bistecca alla Fiorentina nicely.
