Shows ripeness of vintage, but nonetheless retains character of appellation and varietal. Nose plum, herbal, olive, bacon fat. some violet. Palate similarly rich, but still restrained considering vintage. moderately long finish. Good, if not great, Syrah. Hits well for $, and balanced for the vintage.

Drank alongside the "Coteaux" cuvee. Ripe black fruits are maturing gracefully, showing earth and leather alongside meaty spice notes. There is still a bit of protruding tannins that detracts from the overall harmony here, but this is a charming Old School style Syrah.

Cranberry on the rim and a core of opaque blackberry. Nose of plum, blackberry, black olives, iodine, mineral and crushed herbs. A wine that sings just now with a medium weight and excellent balance. Some sediment. 13.5% alc. With molé, fennel charcuterie, blue cheese, olives (green and black brined) and crusty bread. Quite satisfying. Recommended.

Other reviews had me anticipating more of a forceful, even tannic blast on this -- but nothing could have been farther from the truth. Decanted first and allowed it to sit out for a short time (~30 min) before sampling. Deep dark color, a nose that hinted of the fields, smooth mouthfeel with flavor of black raspberries. Balanced and beautiful, seem to have hit this right in the sweet spot of drinkability. Enjoyed this at a syrah/shiraz-focused dinner with some other wino friends, and this drew consistent raves all around (as did the surprise bottles of the evening -- a couple impressive bottles from Idaho). Paired beautifully with a venison and beef chili, as well as a cheese course featuring Roquefort Papillon, Comté Reserve and 7-Year Cheddar from Quebec. A very good bottle of wine and don't think unreasonably priced for this quality. Definitely worth a repeat!

Pretty subdued & unremarkable. Muted flavors. Past its prime, perhaps?
