Made in a more modern, approachable, lighter style. Decanted and enjoyed with chicken mushroom casserole which paired well. Lots of upfront spicy, red cherry and juicy plums, red licorice with some herbs and garrigue in the mix. Very, very nice.
Menthol and a bit of strawberry on the nose; on the palate, raspberry, candied cherry, white pepper, and a note of iodine, with light tannins and good acidity. Tasty, but not particularly complex or impressive. At $40, average value for the money.
Cherry compote, fig, mocha, and baking spices on the nose. Glycerine, sweet red-fruited, spicy palate with candied violets and chocolate. Decent acid and grippy tannins. Perhaps I didn't give this enough air, but I found this overripe and kinda boozy.
