From vines of over 60 years of age, the Rocoules Blanc is made up of 85% Marsanne and 15% Roussanne, aged for 18 months in old wood. Has a thick glycerol type appearance in the glass, like a desert wine, with serious depth. Nice nose of poached pears and orange marmalade. Good texture on the palate, viscous, lovely deep flavours of orange and quince and ginger, with good acidity. Very long finish.

Rich and round on the nose with ripe fruit. On the palate again rich and intense, a little waxy, savoury, powerful. Very, very long. Impressive but a little heavy for my taste. 91-92+(+)

A week in the Northern Rhone; 12/7/2018-12/15/2018 (Lyon, Vienne, Ampuis, Chavanay, Hermitage, Cornas, St. Joseph, Condrieu & Paris): From the wine list at Les Mangevins (Tain). After our morning visit to Marc Sorrel we were excited to taste this with a few years og age on it. A really elegant wine, still not at full maturity and mnay years of drinking ahead. Silky and viscous mouthfeel and tadtes of honey, peaches and marzipan - with a floral bouquet. Super long finish - highly enjoyable.
