I agree with some of the other notes This was a very good aged wine. Opened up nicely after one or two hours, so still some evolution. But nothing overly special or complex. Some nice if a bit tired fruit, and some good secondary flavors Not over the hill, but probably not getting any better.

Last of 12, opened an hour, travelled cork, top shoulder, similar to Jan 20 bottle, nice enough but no real nuance and certainly no fireworks, drink up. G+ (15.5).

Still drinking well from larger formats. Cork was in impressive shape aside from protruding a mm or so.
Great intensity of fruit, Dark cherries and chocolate. Menthol notes and garrigue kinda notes on the nose as well. The palate comes off more savory. Tomato based sauces and a meaty element.
Tannins are chalky and medium in intensity. Acid is medium but the finish is still long. The wine does not come off as flabby in the slightest. Drink now for the larger formats.

Clearly on the down side of the curve. The last one of these I had was about 5years ago and was much better. The raspberry fruit has almost disappeared Still drinkable but not nearly as pleasurable as in the past.

(MONTIANO) 2000 et al Dear Friends, Falesco sent us the wrong format of this wine (we were supposed to get 1.5's but they sent a bevy of 750ml's by mistake) so, instead of sending it back to them, I offered to give the 750ml's away at near wholesale cost. Montiano has one of the highest scoring track-records in Parker's career - the wine has won many fans around the world with a Right Bank meets Dolce Vita style that goes just as well with a grilled New York strip as it does with pasta amatriciana. Despite an irregular ageing record for some vintages of this wine, the good news is that the 2000 has evolved beautifully. You could do a whole lot worse in the world of wine and this parcel comes cellar-aged directly from the winery: This wine has arrived - it is not a pre-arrival: 2000 Falesco Montiano (this is not a misprint) 1987 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco "Gallina" Ok, so this was one of the worst vintages of the decade but tell that to Bruno Giacosa. This wine has aged in a lovely fashion and it's at peak right now. VERY RARE. ...and a few bottles of: 1996 Gaja Sito Moresco (also VERY RARE at this point from a great vintage) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy6921 Italy6922 Italy6923
(MONTIANO) 2000 Dear Friends, There are occasions when an offer speaks for itself and this is one of them - a wonderful deal on a magnum of library stock that is en-route directly from the winery cellar. Falesco bottles their best stock in magnum and we've been fortunate over the years to have been the recipient of most of the large format production. This "reserve" of magnums from the millennium vintage is just starting to evolve and the wine should last for another decade or two with ease (it's nowhere near peak). If you choose to open one this year, I suggest decanting for at least 8-12 hours. If you enjoy aged Bordeaux, this wine will satiate many parts of the palate with it's signature graphite and earth character - it is a very strong contender for a 2000 Bordeaux blind tasting down the road at a fraction of the cost for a top-level magnum. For a 2000, I think the price says it all - especially with this level of provenance: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a chance to obtain large format stock at a great price that has never moved from the winery cellar: 2000 Montiano (Falesco) 1.5lt Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy2366 Click

Nicely aged, still plenty of acidity, black fruit is still there, tobacco, oak is already integrated. Starting to go downhill, drink now.
