  • Let breath 20 min in the glass and OUTSTANDING with grilled, prime NY steak!! Fruit-forward and finish like velvet, but not flabby. Quality, Quality, Quality … Zinfandel doesn’t get much better than this. Would guess this 14 yr old Zin treasure has much more life to go. You wish you had more of this! I do.

  • Fairly deep ruby (compared with some recent vintages) with a garnet rim and a lot of sediment
Fascinating melange of raspberry, soy sauce, cucumber aromas and flavors. High octane at 16.9%, but the density of flavor leaves the heat unnoticeable. Doesn’t finish as sweet or overripe as some recent vintages.
While the style is clearly not for everyone, this is a truly unique American wine experience and quite remarkable at 13 years old. 93++
Purchased and cellared on release, this seems to be on a longer than expected trajectory

  • Dinner with Chris and Stephanie at their place, paired with a great Chicken Cacciatore...this one made the trip in the violin case...:) Splash decant, drank over an hour.

Notes from last bottle 8/20:"Dark, opaque purple color. Exotic, perfumed nose of dark fruits, smoke, earth notes, spice and faint cola...(a lot going on here...:). Rich and viscous texture, palate showing boysenberry, cassis, Indian spice and mineral. Lush through the mid palate and finish.."

Still in a great spot, huge fruits and aromatics that improve with time opened. Its a big wine, to be sure, so not for everyone. The ABV may turn some off at ~17%, but its not noticeable (IMO) nor does it detract from the fruit. It could become an issue with further age, this bottle showed the wine still has a good arc in front of it. Unique and fun wine - best with flavorful foods/savory dishes.

  • Impromptu (socially distanced) wine on our porch with some friends...great evening. Drank this is a 15 Ridge Geyserville. Staying with the Zin theme, a good excuse to open one of these. Bottles purchased at release, in my cellar since. Short decant, drank over an hour

Dark, opaque purple color. Exotic, perfumed nose of dark fruits, smoke, earth notes, spice and faint cola...(a lot going on here...:). Rich and viscous texture, palate showing boysenberry, cassis, Indian spice and mineral. Lush through the mid palate and finish.

This is a big wine, to be sure. I was a bit concerned the alcohol would overwhelm the aged fruit...but OK with this bottle. It's a big, sappy mouth coating wine, not for all palates. The nose is hard to fully describe - really unique and layered. It was a hit with this group.

Agree with the other suggestions on decanting, would let this breathe more than we did if venue allows

  • Decanted 2 hours. Past it’s prime, very disjointed and mellow. Lost the fruit and the punch
