  • Fantastic. Lots of tension with good lively acidity. Fruit and spices. Still time left to drink this up slowly... Great effort by Ludwig Kreuzberg and Frank Josten!

  • Fairly mature nose with aromas of dill crisps, brown toast, wormwood, wet slate, cooked strawberries and red cherries. Silky smooth and slightly viscous on the palate - what the Germans call Schmelz - with surprisingly good freshness for a ten year old Spätburgunder. Quite flavourful and easy to drink, as the barriques (one third new) are well integrated by now and the evolution has reached its top of the curve. No hurry to finish any remaining bottles, though. Pretty good match with fried breasts of free-range chicken, oven-baked Hasselback potatoes, and a yellow-foot mushroom sauce.
