Attractive nose features autumn leaves, black tea, stewed fruit & hoisin sauce. Dense, sweet, earthy and moderately spicy, somewhat hollow mid palate and a shortish finish. A delightfully mature village wine which is unlikely to improve.
Midi maturity to my tastes, very much in a good place for me. It's a very solid village wine, with nice depth of flavour, but even so I was expecting a little more expression from a mature bottle from Ponsot. Good drinking but a bit over priced.
This has a lovely classic pinot noir nose - redolent of youthful Burgundy - with a very powerful raspberry/blackberry note after a while. On the palate, there's good restraint, and it's starting to mature nicely. Works well for me.
