shared with pat at selkirk manor. paired with pasta and snow peas along with a side of mozzarella, jersey tomato and garden basil. this wine outperformed its discounted price of $10 and still represents good value at its original price of $19.95. the blend is 88% sangiovese, 5% colorino, 4% cabernet sauvignon and 3% merlot. some how the cabernet seemed to be the dominant grape, giving the wine a bordeaux like profile. nice balance between fruit and acid but with enough structure to be enjoyable for another year. the wine did take on some bitterness after 30 minutes. would go back for more although i believe this may have been the last bottle available from this vendor.

Dark plum, tobacco, leather, hint of licorice on nose. Tight tannins. Opened up nicely after decanting and aerating. Balanced finish, surprisingly long. I will cellar for 1-2 years
