  • Very promising bouquet of sweet blueberry and cassis, leading into a bright, arresting attack of the same, but that's as far as it goes. No trace of oak and no mocha flavours, but no complexity and no finish. I couldn't help be reminded of the Malescot 01 I tried last week - but this is at least a St.Emilion, so it does taste more or less like one. Fine with food, very boring without. I can't score this objectively - for me, this is an 85 pt wine, at best, for others, probably 90 or 91. It might improve with age since the flavours are still very primary, but the lack of grip and backbone don't augur well, so if you like this type of wine, probably best to enjoy it now.

  • Typical character for the vintage. Suggest drinking sooner than later. Tannins fully resolved.

  • My one and only bottle of this wine... too bad. Certainly drinking well now. Fruit, graphite, leather. Nice balance. Tannin integrated. Yummy bottle.

  • Good, well matured, softish Bordeaux. Not getting any better, but I don't think it's falling off a cliff either. Nothing too exciting, but very enjoyable.

  • Deep ruby red, no lightening at the rim. Aromas of melted fudge, plums and spices jump out of the glass. In the mouth, this medium- to full-bodied St Emilion showcases a combination of red and black berries, herbs and dark chocolate. This bottle is clearly at peak, with tannins largely resolved. However, there is no sense that the wine will fall apart anytime soon. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this drinks well for another decade or so. 15 years of bottle age have effectively eliminated youthful oak and rough edges, and what is left is a quintessential right bank wine with nothing out of place -- a wine of true pleasure. 92.

    (Chateau Faugères St Emilion) A very open and expressive nose here, quite exotic, and rich with spiced, plummy fruit. It has a very attractive palate also, soft at the entry and then showing more structure towards the end. Good acidity, overall this has an appealing composition. A lot of substance here. This needs time, between two and five years at least.
