Saturday Walk Around Tasting 3/3/2012 (The Gourmet Shop, Columbia, SC): Often when we taste Pinot Noir from non traditional growing areas, they are hit or miss with the hard to describe non fruit secondary flavors. Typically, Argentina has its own subset of relatively unique flavors that are mostly interesting and enhancing. This wine has probably the most pronounced taste of sandalwood I have tasted in several years. It seems that Pinot Noir and this producer work well together. There are some very interesting and distinct aromas and flavors. The nose has ripe red cherry, but also a hint of brown sugar, sandalwood, ginger, and other brown spice. The sandalwood continues on the palate, nicely uplifting the already classy and ample cherry fruit. One of those wines that fills the mouth with satisfying flavor much richer than the medium bodied viscosity would indicate. Some smoky oak, and a touch of barnyard with more cherry on the finish.

Very enjoyable wine with a full mouth feel and smooth tannins. Sorry I bought only one bottle.

Dan Kravitz and Hand Picked Selections (Hinton's Wine Store, Atlanta, GA): Soft cherry. Rounded, quite a grippy finish. Simple.
