Really nice. Decanted 1 hour prior to drinking and consumed over the next 4 hours. Red licorice, red fruits on the palate with hints of black licorice and flowers in the background. Tannins did not get in the way of the fruit. Probably could survive more bottle time without deteriorating, but more time is not required.
Definitely in need of some more bottle time. That being said after about 3 hours in the decanter this wine showed amazingly well. It started as one might expect from younger Barbaresco but it evolved into an almost Burgundy-like wine. Fleshy and fruity with notes of cherry pipe tobacco but with little of the leathery or tarry aspects I was expecting. The texture is more full-bodied and mouth-coating than I am used to as well. The acidity is probably a touch lower than in some other years (96 and 99 especially) giving it that larger, more approachable quality. There still are some stiff-ish style tannins which sugest another 3-5 years worth of development. I would not hold this as long as some other vintages but it can still be cellared without concern. All in all a damn fine Produttori.
Produttori Del Barbaresco (Osteria La Spiga): The "silky one" wasn't very silky next to the Pora. I found this suprisingly closed considering the similar sites. Spicy Fruit, and noticebale tannins on the shorter finish. I tried to circle back to this wine, but found it consumed. 88+
