Very nice bottle. Black cherry, sarsaparilla, cocoa, earth, and herbs on the nose. This is elegant in the mouth, with enough remaining fruit to seem fresh, but the wood has integrated pretty well, leaving a gentle suggestion of spice around the edges. With time, the earth and spice come far enough forward in the mix, and the fruit recedes enough, to persuade me that this isn't likely to improve; but it's my last bottle (of only a couple), and it didn't seem at all OTH.

Still delicious !! I agree with my tasting note of one year ago !! Perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle, easily removed. Dark ruby colored with mild oxidation and medium clarity. Consumed over two days. All Martini clone Pinot Noir from this Pelligrini owned Russian River vineyard. This last bottle of the vintage in my cellar may finally be showing its age, therefore, I have reduced the score one point. Drink up, at or just barely past peak.

Method: 62 degrees; glass decant for 40 minutes Pinot glass
Look: deep garnet with maroon rim; a lot of slow legs
Nose: oak, tree bark, plum, dry blackberry, slight anise, light dried green herbs
Palate: blackberry, tree bark, light anise; long finish dry bay leaf, light anise, bit of minerality; dry; medium- body; medium- (maybe medium) drying, somewhat round tannins that start to accumulate in mouth; medium acidity
Overall thoughts: This wine does a lot of things well, but nothing really stands out. Good, but not great mouth feel; solid balance; decent fruit; long finish; though, maybe a touch too woody. Definitely enjoyable. Good wine.
