Should have spent more time in a decanter. Because of the age, I didn't want to risk letting all the goods blow off, but this bottle needs at least four hours in a decanter. The tannin structure on this wine is over the top, typical of Sagrantino, but was hoping for more resolve at this age (granted I have not drank a ton of sagrantino). Graphite, pencil shavings, blood all over the nose. On the palette, high density tannins with a very nice finish. This is 100% my style wine, love the bold and darker bodied wines, just wish I still had my gum line intact after drinking it.

13th of 18, decanted 15 minutes, cork third travelled, perfect level, much more fragrant than last bottle in 2019 with similar sweaty saddle notes of a fine Bandol and layered on the palate, nicely balanced for such a big wine, tannins largely tamed as it approaches maturity plateau, 10+ years. F (17.5).

Deep garnet color - almost cola - minimal rim clearing Medium plus aromas - almost devoid of fruit but with beautiful secondary/ tertiary notes - primarily smoke/ meat/ leather and tomato leaf Medium plus bodied with palate of ripe/dried black fruit with ash and cured tobacco plug Medium plus to high tannins even at this age, but very well integrated Medium plus acidity and medium alcohol with great length Perfect aged Sagrantino - the tannins in this variety never cease to amaze me I believe this in a perfect drinking window though I am one who likes a little more fresh fruit

Double blind tasting Deep garnet Aromatics medium +. Mainly tertiary. Prunes, smoke, old oak, tomato leaf and tobacco resin Palate has medium + body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium +, medium grained on teeth/gums, but well integrated. Alcohol medium +. Tobacco, raisin like black fruit. Dried tomato leaf Finish has medium + length. Balanced. All aged Italian. Dry glass notes of tomato leaf I would drink now I guessed a 2005 Brunello
