I usually like Lioco's Pinots, I usually like Pinots from Hirsch Vineyard, and I usually like Lioco's Pinots from Hirsch Vineyard. But this '09 has a green note that substantially diminishes the pleasure of the wine. More than a bottle flaw or even stylistic preference, I think this just goes over the line into errant winemaking. Possible that others wouldn't pick it up as strongly or object as much, but the '09 Lioco Hirsch Pinot is a misfire for me.

Too much stem for me on this wine. The nose is a green with some black tea. As another taster has said a slippery mouthfeel almost like soap stone. Overall a well made wine but trying to do a bit too much with the stem inclusion, in my opinion. Need to let the fruit and the site speak for itself.

Light red fruit with touches of spice and earth. Delicate and simple. I expected more from Hirsch.
