Brought to a friend's for dinner so was only able to decant this for half an hour, and it clearly needed more time. Continued to improve throughout the evening, with the last glass being by far the best. An attractive deep magenta in color. The nose offers pretty aromas of ripe berries, flowers and earth. Full-bodied and very velvety in texture with a mild-to-moderate acidity. There's such wonderful depth and intensity to the luscious plum and blackberry fruit. Subtle notes of chocolate and spice linger on the long, mouth-watering finish. The super-fine tannins are beautifully integrated and there's barely a hint of oak to be found. Impeccably balanced and so refined, this is a gorgeous expression of Columbia Valley Merlot. 50+5+12+17+8=92
Notes of aging but properly are present from the nose to the palate. I'm so glad I waited for this. And it still has enough character for some more resting time but it is reaching peak. Notes of leather, mushrooms, truffle and forest floor. Great amount of dark fruit on the palate and solid 30 second finish. Great effort and at the time, great QPR.
