An elegant and beautiful bouquet. Extremely well balanced and fragrant. The fruit, spice, minerality and savoury grilled meat filled the entire aromatic nose and silky palate. Rich and extended medium-bodied structure surrounded by layers of aromatics from entry to a lingering finish which has a touch of tannins. Transition needs a bit more time.

1953 Dinner: Milestone Birthday (Gemma Fish + Oyster): Paired next to the 1953 and of course it doesn’t hold up next to its much older brother but at the same time it is fun to see what the evolution might hold. Also a reminder that I can’t really buy much young wine because I like the really old ones. Alas.

Wine Workshop: Chateau Margaux (Gabriel Kreuther): Perhaps one day this will be quite wonderful and something to behold but at this stage all I can say is it is frightfully young and big and bold and not even close to ready. All of the power of that vintage. Needs a lot more time. I hope that I am around when it comes into its own.

Grand Jury du Vin - Republic of Georgia; 11/1/2023-11/9/2023 (Republic of Georgia then stopover in Paris and Dijon): Wine 18 – Crème de cassis, cab dominating nose, bell pepper. Cool and fresh.
Afterthought – I am surprised by this; I didn’t like the bell pepper green note.
