This wine is a "GSCP" blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignane, and Petite Sirah. The only bothersome thing is that I can never find percentages, so if someone knows, please post it!! It tastes like 30/30/30/10 G/S/C/P. This one was ready to go. Poured a dirty red into the glass. Fruity nose with a hint of chocolate and earth. Lots of grenache black cherry and bramble, a little minerality, but the middle is dominated by dark chocolate, clove, allspice, and then crashes into a dark wine, earthy forest, black pepper that didn't really show until it had been open for 30 minutes. Practically devoid of tannin. Finished long after an hour, with very dark fruit and fig-filled finish, perhaps from the Petite Sirah. This 2009 probably should have been consumed a year ago, but it's on to the 2010 and 2011 now! Drink by 2017.
Last bottle I opened seemed like it was maybe past it's peak. I didn't have high hopes for this one and it turned out to be excellent! Short decant and this one was ready to go. Nice fruit, soft tannins, long finish.
