Opened and decanted 1.5 hours ahead of seared rib-eye, garlic potatoes, and mixed salad. Overall, took about 3.5 hours in the decanter to fully open up. Dark, purple-crimson color. Gravel nose brings fresh cherry blossoms, red roses, blueberry compote, blackcurrant, and pipe tobacco. The palate is medium-full, square, and compact, revealing bright Bing cherries, sweet raspberries and blueberries, dark chocolate, espresso bean, anise, and dried mud which flows into a moderately tannic yet extended finish. Still on the upward slope so drink 2026-2040. Technical score: 91. Enjoyment score: 91.

First thing first - the first several sips brought a wide smile on my face ( do you remember my unique and original theory about happiness* in wine?) The second first - I think this is the first wine in my limited experience with such soft, silky, tender texture. Almost a thrill. The third first - it's so much goes here, that I have a problem to frame all aromas and flavors in this space. But... let's try Aromas - earth, herbs, forest, minerals mixed with sweet notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, chocolate Flavors - basically the same as aromas, but there's so nice spice so well blended with acidity, that you don't know which is which. What else is here? Black currant, tobacco ( great filler!). Long, but soft finish with spice, chocolate, red fruits. 2010 got 98 points according to the WA Vintage Guide Wine? It belongs to this kind of wine, where the public likes it more than critics. PNP. Was closed. Drank over 30 minutes in glass and needed more time. In fridge over night. Opened up next day and was wonderful. I will decant for at least 2 hours next bottle or combo double decant with open decant before serving.

Double decanted for 1 hour and was drinking beautifully. Rich mid palate. Will consume remaining bottles over the next 10 years.
