  • Last of a batch of 6 plus a couple of bottles when it was first released. i enjoyed as its aged over time. my first impression was that its definitely near the very end but having let it open out im a little less certain. dark colour and viscous in the glass. nose of stewed fruit, burnt wood and a touch of cherry. It still gives an initial short burst of fruit/dried fruit, a little herbaciousness and leather upfront. that fades v quickly with leather and a drying becoming apparent, then slowly evolving into tobacco towards the back of the tongue. Its definitely aging but once it opens a little its still interesting. giving it 89 but was going to b lower until i let it open for a little while

  • Excellent balance, smooth tannin's; great mouth-feel. Highly recommend. A steal at the $15 price point.

  • Outstanding value for the money. I seem to be eating a lot of barbecue these days and this was a stone perfect match. Medium weight with a good bit of rich fruit: plums, blackberry, a bit jammy but with enough acid to keep things clean, a little menthol, a little vanilla. And for the price? A steal.

  • Green pepper and that South African smoke. Easy to drink. Last bottle. Good stuff.

  • Was going to give this an 88, but it opened up in the decanter and improved rather notably. Does need decanting. Lots of fruit, touch of wood, unusual combo of five different varietals yields a different taste that seems to have integrated all the varietals. Good wine for the money, don't let the 2008 vintage lead you on to think the wine is past its prime.
