Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 88 points

  • Not a showstopper, but a really solid aged wine with plenty of life. Appearance is barely showing age, with a little orange at the rim but otherwise clear ruby. Nose is classic aged merlot: truffles, tart cherry, plum skin, dark chocolate. Palate is tart and still has tannic structure, adding some nuances of mushroom and earth to cherry fruit. Not overly concentrated, but balanced and good food wine. Ready to drink.

  • Moving towards the tertiary side, but drinking well from a properly stored bottle. Color is a garnet with brown tints. This shows rich candied cherry, plum, dark brown sugar, brown spices, and worn leather. Moderate finish, some tannic structure remaining, balanced acidity. Probably time to drink up if you’ve got one.
