Showing perfectly ripe red cherry fruit and violets, the 2009 Meyer-Näkel "G" deserves to be compared with really good côtes-du-rhônes from 2007 - or maybe with good generic 09s from burgundy? Generously fruity and slightly viscous in the mouth with light coffee and spicy notes, it obviously has short-term cellar potential, at least up to five years from the harvest. Close to outstanding, it merits a higher score than we gave it last time. This is a great vintage for the Ahr valley!
