  • This was showing lots of blackberries and pomegranate on the nose, which is nice but not the best part of the wine. The mid palate is pretty soft and pure, with good acid and good tannin immediately attacking. On the finish those structural elements really dial high. The fruit is likely on the decline on this, but the tannin and acid is still going strong. Does make me wonder what will happen in the mid to intermediate phase... that fruit may continue to fade or get towards the overripe plummy side which can happen with these. I don't this improves at all from here, but may be on a stable plateau. There's still something not quite as delicious about this wine as I'd like, though.

  • Maybe a touch over the hill now.. Not as much fruit as I remember several years back. Still a nice wine with good complexity and structure, and no hint of oxidation, but just not quite as vital as it used to be.
